Our standards

Sustainability at every level

We set high standards throughout the entire textile value chain. All our products are fairly produced, ecological, skin-friendly, and ClimatePartner certified. We primarily use natural materials from certified organic farming or certified organic animal husbandry. In addition, we work with resource-saving materials such as TENCEL™ and EcoVero™ from Lenzing, or with recycled materials such as ECONYL®. We are GOTS certified and a member of the IVN. The criteria we define contribute significantly to ensuring sustainability at every stage of production.

No. 01
Pure natural fibers and ingredients

For our textiles, we use the full variety of natural raw materials that are free from pesticides, herbicides, and other toxins. These include: cotton, linen, wool, hemp, silk, alpaca, yak, and cashmere wool. We also select our accessories (buttons, labels, ribbons, etc.) with great care, ensuring that they are tested for harmful substances and using only OEKO-TEX® certified materials. Whenever possible, we use natural raw materials – for example, we completely forgo plastics for our buttons and instead use horn, tagua nut, or metal.

No. 02
Pure colors and high-quality finish

The high-quality dyes for our garments are carefully selected by us.

We do not use chemical finishing for our textiles.

All our textiles are free from harmful or toxic substances. We do not use mothproofing, chlorine bleach, or biocide finishes, nor do we use synthetic resin, nickel, or Teflon. In addition, for high durability and easy care of the textiles, we rely on ecological alternatives such as steam, heat, and pressure.

No. 03
Fair Production

We take responsibility in our collaboration with production partners, are personally on-site, and carefully check social standards.

Our focus is on humane working conditions, fair wages, no child labor, regulated working hours, no discrimination or forced labor, respect for freedom of association, and regulated employment relationships.

Generally, the producers who manufacture our clothing have certificates ensuring social standards in the workplace. These include: the GOTS certificate, the amfori BSCI Code of Conduct, the SA8000® standard, and auditing by the Fair Wear Foundation. When selecting new producers, consistent values play a central role for us, in addition to seals and certificates.

Resource-efficient logistics

Our logistics are regularly optimized to protect the environment.

We prioritize the shortest possible, resource-efficient transport routes.

We order our goods from the respective suppliers in advance. Because the more time available, the more environmentally friendly we can ship our goods – by train or ship from China, by truck from the EU or Turkey. In absolute exceptional cases, for example with a significant delay in production, we also have to ship individual product groups by plane.

The packaging for our textiles is made from recycled plastic or paper.

Generally, our products are individually packed in thin bags made of recycled plastic for shipping to protect them on their way to our customers. Since 2020 (A/W 20/21 collection), for some suitable products, such as jeans or bulky knitwear, we have been using a banderole made of recycled paper. This allows us to save on packaging materials.

For online shop orders, we use shipping boxes made of recycled paper and, where possible, reused boxes.

In addition, an adhesive label is enclosed with each shipment so that the box can be cleanly sealed again in the event of a return – this significantly extends the lifespan of the shipping boxes. We save on paper invoices or return slips by offering digital document delivery.

Green Office

Understanding sustainability as a holistic process also means committing to environmentally and socially responsible actions in everyday life.

Our employees are primarily provided with office materials made from recycled materials or with other recognized environmental certifications. A water treatment system and reusable lunch-to-go boxes reduce daily packaging waste. A free team lunch is also held weekly for all employees. All costs for public transport are covered in full. New employees receive a "Sustainable Onboarding."

Once a year, a joint Sustainability Day takes place: Together, we reflect on our development and devise measures for the future.

Tested Quality

Our in-house quality assurance and independent institutes monitor compliance with our high standards.

Since 2012, LANIUS has been GOTS-certified as a company - this is also regularly checked and renewed.

A part of our assortment is certified according to the GOTS standard (license no.: CERES GOTS-11977). This certification enables us to label selected products according to the GOTS guidelines.
