Often, simple tricks and a little skill are enough to repair a beloved defective item. In our video tutorials, we show you examples of how to quickly and easily sew on buttons, mend holes, and repair hems.

Additionally, in cooperation with the professional Cologne tailoring shop Plissee Becker, we offer an EU-wide, professional repair service.

Kleidung selbst reparieren

Videoanleitung/ Knopf annähen

Verbliebene Garnreste entfernen und die Stelle mit einem Bleistift markieren

60cm farblich passendes Garn bis zur Mitte des Fadens durch das Nadelöhr führen und die Enden zusammenknoten
Knopf ans Kleidungsstück halten, die Nadel hinten ansetzen
Verschiedene Stichformen, wie zwei parallele Linien, oder ein Kreuzstich können gewählt werden
Ca. 8-10 Mal die Stiche wiederholen
Etwas Abstand zwischen Knopf und Material halten, damit der Knopf flexibel bleibt
Den Faden ein paar Mal um den Knopf drehen
Von hinten einstechen, damit eine Schlaufe entsteht
Faden durch die Schlaufe führen, festziehen und abschneiden

Depending on the fabric, choose the thread and needle – e.g., use a thick needle for chunky knits, a thin one for cotton.
Tip: Each LANIUS knit item comes with extra yarn for repairs.
Thread the needle and tie a knot.
Insert the needle from the inside at a sturdy spot on the edge of the hole.
Place a darning mushroom with the rounded surface under the clothing.
Sew over the hole in parallel lines.
To secure the thread, insert the needle into the fabric once more to create a loop.
Pull the thread through the loop, tighten, and cut.

So oft wiederholen, bis der gesamte Saum festgenäht ist
Locker nähen, damit kein Zug von der Außenseite sichtbar ist

Together with the professional Cologne tailor shop Plissee Becker, which has accompanied our founder Claudia Lanius since the beginning of her fashion career, we offer an EU-wide repair service. With over 70 years of experience, the specialist shop now shines with true expertise in the field of invisible mending.

Plissee Becker, like hardly any other company, stands for cross-generational Cologne city history: founded by the Becker family in 1951, Plissee Becker was handed over to Lisbeth and Arthur Teichmann in the 60s. Their son Rolf Teichmann still runs the business today.

So much know-how impresses us, and we are delighted to have gained Plissee Becker as a partner for our new repair service. We make it easier to access professional repairs for your favorite items and cover the shipping costs within the EU.

Pack your item(s) together with the completed form in a parcel. For better visibility and clarity, we recommend marking the defective area(s) on the item itself with sticky notes. Please do not use pins, as they can further damage the goods during shipping.

Welche Ergebnisse kann ich erwarten? Wie gut ist die Qualität?

Um das beste gewünschte Ergebnis zu erzielen, bedienen wir uns nach Möglichkeit der Originalgarne und der Originalwolle, die wir aus den sogenannten Leermaschen gewinnen, die jeder Pullover besitzt. Diese Materialien setzen wir ein und ergänzen sie nach Bedarf mit Materialien aus unserem eigenen reichhaltigen Bestand.

Für Schäden im Ellenbogenbereich arbeiten wir zum Teil mit hochwertigem Lederbesatz. Dafür verwenden unsere Kunststopf-Expert*innen ausschließlich hauchdünnes Ziegenleder der besten Qualität, das sich trotz seiner Feinheit durch extrem hohe Stabilität und Haltbarkeit auszeichnet.

Nicht immer kann jeder Schaden vollends unsichtbar gemacht werden, aber das Ergebnis ist in der Regel so, dass man schon sehr genau hinschauen muss, um einen ehemaligen Schaden zu erkennen.
