Chemical fibres are artificially produced fibers that do not occur in nature. The thread is created by pressing the so-called "spinning mass" through a nozzle with even pressure.
There are two different types of chemical fibers:
- The natural polymers , such as viscose or lyocell. During production, the raw material is found in nature - this raw material is called cellulose. This is chemically dissolved into a spinning mass and can then be spun out.
- The synthetic polymers , such as polyester or polyamide. The main raw material used in production is petroleum. Here too, a thread is produced after the spinning mass has been created.
At LANIUS we mainly use natural polymers such as Tencel ® and Modal ® from the Austrian company Lenzing, which are particularly environmentally friendly and water-saving in their production.
