We set ourselves high standards along the entire textile value chain. All our products are climate-neutralised, fairly produced, ecological and skin-friendly. We mainly use natural materials from controlled organic cultivation or from controlled organic animal husbandry. In addition, we work with resource-saving materials, such as TENCEL™ and EcoVero™ from Lenzing, or with recycled materials, such as ECONYL®. We are GOTS certified and a member of the IVN. The criteria we have defined make a significant contribution to ensuring sustainability at every stage of production.

Our Standards
N° 01
Natural fibres and accessoires
For our textiles, we use the full variety of natural raw materials that are free of pesticides, herbicides and other toxins. These include: Cotton, linen, wool, hemp, silk, alpaca, yak and cashmere wool. We also select our ingredients (buttons, labels, ribbons etc.) with special care, pay attention to goods that have been tested for harmful substances and only use OEKO-TEX® certified materials. Wherever possible, we use natural raw materials - for example, we do not use any plastics at all for our buttons and instead rely on horn, stone nut or metal.
N° 02
Pure colours and high-quality finishing
The high-quality dyes for our garments are carefully selected by us.
We do not use chemical high-grade finishing for our textiles.
All our textiles are free from harmful or toxic substances. We do not use any anti-moth finishes, chlorine bleach or biocide finishes, nor do we use synthetic resin, nickel or Teflon. Wherever possible, we use natural raw materials - for example, we do not use any plastics at all for our buttons and instead rely on horn, stone nut or metal.
N° 03
Fair Production
We take responsibility and ensure fair and controlled production of our textiles.
The focus is on humane working conditions, fair wages, no child labour, regulated working hours, no discrimination or forced labour, respect for freedom of association and regulated employment relationships.
Our production partners always have certificates such as the GOTS certificate, the BSCI Code of Conduct, the SA8000 standard and auditing by the Fair Wear Foundation. In addition to certificates, consistent values and personal contact play a decisive role in the selection of our partners, who are visited by us on a regular basis.
N° 04
Resource-saving logistics
Our logistics are subject to regular optimisation to protect the environment.
We make sure that transport routes are as short as possible and conserve resources, and that shipping is climate-neutralised by offsetting CO₂ emissions.
The packaging of our collections is made of recycled plastic or paper. For online shop orders, we use shipping boxes made of recycled paper and use already used boxes where possible. In addition, a sticker is included with each shipment so that the box can be resealed cleanly in the event of a return - this significantly extends the life of the shipping boxes. We save on paper invoices or returns slips by offering digital document dispatch.
N° 05
Green Office
Understanding sustainability as a holistic process also means striving to act in an environmentally and socially responsible manner in everyday life.
The LANIUS headquarters in Cologne offsets all CO₂ emissions and, like the LANIUS stores, uses natural electricity.
LANIUS employees are provided with sustainable office materials and a drinking water treatment plant. The cost of using public transport is covered in full. New employees receive sustainable onboarding. In addition, a sustainability day is held once a year - we dedicate ourselves to our sustainable development and work together to develop measures for the future.
N° 06
Tested quality
Our in-house quality assurance and independent institutes monitor compliance with our high standards.
Since 2012, LANIUS has been GOTS certified as a company - this is also regularly checked and renewed.
