Homestory: At home with Claudia Lanius

At the end of 2020, we would like to thank you in particular as loyal customers and take stock of the situation. To do this, we visited LANIUS founder Claudia Lanius at home and talked to her about the unusual year and her wishes.

Private insights at the end of the year

Warmth, relaxation, inner contemplation and a protective home are particularly important in this unusual year. Because one thing is certain: This year we will stay at home over the holidays to protect ourselves and, above all, those around us.

As the year comes to an end, we would like to thank you in particular as loyal customers and take stock of the situation. To do this, we visited LANIUS founder Claudia Lanius at home and spoke to her about the unusual year and her wishes. Her daughter Annabelle Homann, Marketing Manager at LANIUS, who has also been part of the management team since this year, was there.

Claudia, how has the term “home” gained meaning for you this year?

"Despite all the threat posed by COVID-19, it was also very nice and healing to be less distracted by the outside world and to concentrate more on the inside again. Being together in a small circle of my own family, making myself really comfortable at home again and cooking for myself more often again has given me a lot."

Behind LANIUS you now stand as a well-rehearsed mother-daughter duo. How did you master the unusual year of 2020 together?

"My daughter and I have always been a strong team. I am very lucky that we work very well together and complement each other well. This year, this has been particularly evident - on the one hand, because my daughter decided to join the management team and thus become more involved in my issues. On the other hand, because of the corona virus, when it broke out, I now had someone at my side who I can trust completely and who has my back."

What are your personal rituals to keep a clear head in everyday life?

"I start the morning slowly with a cup of tea and then very actively with a long walk through the park. I also meditate a lot. These rituals give me peace, strength and the right serenity for what is to come."

Home office, canceled trade fairs, digital events – has your clothing style changed in the past few months?

"Over the last few years, my clothing style has become more and more focused on the premise of 'feeling good' - away from clothing that oppresses me, towards softer and smoother materials and cuts. With 'more' at home this year, there was naturally also 'more' comfortable clothing: cozy wool trousers, casual shirts, cozy sweaters."

What are your best tips for the holidays at home?

"For me, the motto here is: less is more. Spending time in a select circle with a few close people, cooking together, enjoying the time we have and reflecting on how good we have it. I am really lucky to have a fireplace. Looking into the fire, enjoying the moment and letting peace come over me. I'm really looking forward to it."

If you had one wish…

"... I would like to see the global shift from fast disposable fashion to slow fashion become the norm in the coming years. We need less clothing, more appreciation for it and should find joy in caring for it better and passing it on to the family."
