from one of the world’s oldest producers in Peru
WHICH ALPACA-WOOL DO WE USE?
Our alpaca wool gets sourced from the Andes in Peru, where the production of alpaca wool and fabrics is part of cultural heritage and creates jobs for a large proportion of population. Since there are only four million alpacas left worldwide and they can be shorn just once in every two years, alpaca wool is extremely valuable. For years, we are sourcing our wool from one of the oldest producers in the market. Because LANIUS highly valuables the animal welfare, we convinced ourselves that the alpacas in Peru can live exactly the way they liked the most: free and high up in the Andes.
ALPACA-WOOL IS ONE OF THE FINEST LUXURY FIBERS IN THE WORLD.
WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT ALPACA-WOOL?
The thermal properties of alpaca wool and the fact that it is extremely comfortable to wear makes it a real all-rounder, which can be used for both summer and winter clothing.
In contrast to merino wool fibres with the same degree of purity, alpaca wool will always feel considerably softer. This is caused by the quality of the wool. Each hair in the fleece is surrounded by extremely dense scales. Due to this special characteristic and the fact that alpacas are relatively rare, this wool is one of the most valuable natural fibres in the world.
