REPAIR
Simple tricks and a little skill are often enough to repair a defective favourite item. In our video tutorials, we show you examples of how you can quickly and easily sew on buttons, darn holes and repair hems.
In addition, we offer an EU-wide professional repair service together with the professional Cologne tailor PlisseeBecker.

Sewing on a button
- Remove any remaining thread and mark the spot with a pencil
- Thread 60cm of matching thread through the eye of the needle to the middle of the thread and knot the ends together
- Hold the button on the garment and place the needle at the back
- Different stitch shapes, such as two parallel lines, or a cross stitch can be chosen
- Repeat the stitches approx. 8-10 times
- Keep some space between the button and the material to keep the button flexible
- Turn the thread around the button a few times
- Pierce from the back to create a loop
- Pass the thread through the loop, tighten and cut

Repairing a hole
- Select a matching coloured thread and a thick needle
Tip: Every LANIUS knitted garment comes with extra thread for repairs - Pass the yarn through the eye of the needle and tie a knot
- Place the needle from the inside at a stable point on the edge of the hole
- Place the darning mushroom with the round surface under the garment
- Sew in parallel lines across the hole
- To sew, pierce the fabric again with the needle so that a loop is formed
- Pass the thread through the loop, tighten and cut off

Repairing a hem seam
- Thread a matching colour thread into a needle and tie a knot in the thread at the end so it doesn't slip
- Turn the garment inside out
- Start the seam between the outside and the inside so that the knot is no longer visible
- Pick up a few threads of fabric from the garment
- Grasp the fabric threads next to the stitching
- Repeat until the whole hem is sewn in place
- Sew loosely so that there is no visible pull from the outside
- Stitch from the back to create a loop
- Pass the thread through the loop, tighten and cut off

Our repair service
More than almost any other company, PlisseeBecker stands for Cologne's history across generations: founded by the Becker family in 1951, PlisseeBecker was handed over to Lisbeth and Arthur Teichmann in the 1960s. Their son Rolf Teichmann still runs the business today.
Together with the professional Cologne tailor shop PlisseeBecker, which has accompanied our founder Claudia Lanius since the beginning of her fashion career, we offer an EU-wide repair service. With over 70 years of experience, the specialist shop now shines with true expertise in the field of artificial darning.
So much know-how impresses us and we are pleased to have won PlisseeBecker as a partner for our new repair service. We facilitate access to a professional repair of your favourite parts and cover the costs for shipping within the EU.
Step 1
Fill in the form
One or more of your favourite LANIUS parts is defective? No need to worry, we are happy to help you with our repair service. First print out our repair request form. Mark and describe the defective part(s). Then enter your address and contact details.
Step 2
Pack the item(s)
Pack your item(s) together with the completed form in a package. For better visibility and overview, we recommend that you still mark the defective spot(s) on the item itself with sticky notes. Please do not use pins as they can further damage the item during shipping.
Step 3
Create a DHL shipping label
Create a DHL shipping label – we'll give you the shipping costs for free. Simply click on the button below.
The shipping address is:
PlisseeBecker
Benesisstraße 40

Step 4
Get an answer
After you have handed in the package to DHL, PlisseeBecker will inform you bindingly about the costs and the further procedure after receipt. With your consent, the item will be repaired - the return is free of charge. If no repair is possible, you will also receive the item back free of charge.

- Fire damage
- Moth damage
- Threadbare spots in the elbow area
- Fall defects
- Tears
To achieve the best desired result, we make use of the original yarns and wool wherever possible, which we obtain from the so-called empty stitches that every jumper has. We use these materials and supplement them as necessary with materials from our own rich stock.
For damage in the elbow area, we sometimes work with high-quality leather trimmings. For this, our artificial stuffing experts exclusively use wafer-thin goatskin of the best quality, which is characterised by extremely high stability and durability despite its fineness.
Not all damage can always be made completely invisible, but the result is usually such that you have to look very closely to recognise former damage.
